Blood glucose monitoring

How often you test will depend on the result obtained. At first, if you are testing at home, you may be asked to test four times or more a day for three to four days (before meals and the night snack and/or possibly after meals). This may be reduced to four times a day, one day a week if control is good. More frequent testing (one to two hours after meals) will be needed if blood values are higher than recommended. Members of your health care team will review your results on a regular basis. If needed, they may make changes to your diet or exercise routine and/or add insulin as a treatment. Test results that are higher than accepted should be shared with your team as soon as possible
