Blood glucose (venous plasma glucose) values should be:
- Fasting (before breakfast) < 5.3 mmol/L
- One hour after meals < 7.8 mmol/L
- Two hours after meals < 6.7 mmol/L
- Insulin will be considered if diet and exercise fails to keep blood glucose within these ranges, particularly in the fasting state.
